 The present study covers all digital library softwares available on Internet. The study of seventeen digital library software packages includes general information, system requirements, cost, users, special features, and versions of software. Second part of the study includes the greenstone software package (version 2.40) in detail. Greenstone Digital Library Software is a open source software package and found that it is used very extensively worldwide. For the present study, greenstone software is installed and used for collection building, indexing and retrieval. The main objectives of the present study are to study the various softwares used in the digital library; to study the process of building, managing, organising the collection with the help of Greenstone software; to retrieve the digitized information by using Greenstone software.
