Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a self configuring infrastructure-less network of autonomous battery powered mobile nodes connected by low bandwidth wireless links in a dynamic topology. Each node in MANET functions as host as well as router simultaneously and maintains connectivity by distributing the network control among the nodes. Ad-hoc networks are considered important in situations where the installation of a fixed infrastructure is costly, difficult, impossible or simply unnecessary.
