Specifically, an attempt is made to verify various theories related to rural urban migration in the context of Pakistan. It is well known that economic considerations are of primary importance for rural urban migration in normal situations. But what if the masses are faced with abnormal situations such as faced by the people of North West Pakistan during 2009-10.this work shows that economic considerations still occupies the central importance even though survival is the ultimate objective of forced migration.
