As a result most linguists have been calling for the removal of the grammar section in language lessons. However in Zimbabwe and many other countries, explicit grammar instruction is the order of the day despite pleas from both the students and teachers. This book looks at the problems faced in the teaching and study of Ndebele grammar with particular reference to David Livingstone Secondary School in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Problems faced by both the teachers and pupils are explored through the use of interviews, questionnaires and observation. Interesting issues arise from this study. Solutions to the problems are suggested. These solutions should be especially helpful to the language teachers and their students.
