The discussions, analysis, synthesis and assumption were done based on the literature study, the ICOMOS Burra Charter, the China Principles for the Conservation of Heritage Sites, and the Indonesia Law in Cultural Heritage. In the research it has been found that Taman Sari which is located in Yogyakarta was built for several reasons and functions, such as resting area, recreation area, practicing area, traditional activities and workshops, meditation area and also defense area.
