The purpose of this paper is to provide a better understanding on the factors that impedes the pertinence of French colonial architectural style among contemporary built environment in Puducherry.In order to reach this purpose three factors were investigated: the real world fact (Rwf) , Issues, values.Studies were conducted from the selected 7 streets in Puducherry where contemporary Built environment were existing and our findings revealed that Real World Facts has major role in impeding the style than the other two factors i.e., values and issues. The findings also suggest that values and issues would become key factors while arriving at a frame work of guidelines for future development in order to keep up the French connection in the town.
