Описание
In the history of 20th-century figurative art, the Italian painter Giorgio Morandi stands out as a highly individual artist who captured the simple beauty of light on forms through deft brushwork and the use of subtle colouration. Eschewing literary and symbolic content, he arranged bottles vessels, vases and jugs in ever new compositions or painted the view out of his window in Bologna from different angles. By concentrating on the same objects and subtly modifying the compositions and soft colours, Morandi created delicate pictures of an abstract, almost dematerialised figurativeness. Accompanied by three essays and a detailed biography, this richly illustrated volume brings together 109 of Morandi's most important works, executed in a variety of techniques.
