This involves a move away from a preoccupation with the North to one that emphasizes the global South. The intention is to uncover the workings of a global economy that are left unexplained by ignoring the interconnections of North and South. Also uncovered are excluded understandings of gender, environment, global labor and informal structures in a global economy.
