No one in the workplace is shielded from diversity. There is a widespread and urgent need to improve our ability to understand and be understood by others whose different backgrounds mean that they communicate differently. This need is greatest where it is least recognized, among the members of the dominant groups in society. Communicating Across Cultures is a vocational guide that offers us the skills to recognize, understand, and overcome communication difficulties among cultures, whether they are based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, education, social class, or level of (dis)ability. The author's theoretical and practical discussions, enhanced with many figures, help us to recognize the various values, attitudes,expectations, concerns, and pattern behaviors that we all encounter in the workplace.
