Dielectric resonator antennas have great potential to become one of the most important components in the next generation of high performance communication systems. Currently these antennas find applications in many wireless portable devices such as PDAs, laptops and handsets. When using wireless portable devices, user body is constantly exposed to the electromagnetic radiations emitted from the antennas of these devices. The Specific absorption rate (SAR) is used to quantify the power absorbed in the bio-tissues per unit mass expressed in W/kg. SAR measurements are performed using a tissue-equivalent medium, whose dielectric properties simulate the average properties of human body or head tissues.
