Metal cutting processes still represent the largest class of manufacturing operations. One of the main features of any material removal process is that a significant portion of the mechanical energy generated by the interaction of the tool and the workpiece is converted into heat. The total amount of heat generated during cutting is the combination of heat of the chips, the tool, and the workpiece. This work focuses on analysis of the thermal field of the oblique machining process. Finite element method (FEM) software DEFORM 3D was used together with experimental work carried out using infrared image equipment, which include both hardware and software simulations.
