An introduction of different rapid tooling processes with various associated drawbacks specifically in soft tooling process where flexible reactive polymeric materials are used for making mould is presented here. One of the significant drawbacks, namely longer solidification time is taken into consideration which has been solved using particle reinforcement with mould materials towards improvement of soft tooling process. An in-depth experimental study on the physical properties (thermal conductivity, modulus of elasticity and viscosity) of composite mould materials is carried out. A new intelligent approach is proposed in order to design the particle-reinforced mould materials through modeling, optimization and followed by multi-criterion decision making. The intelligent approach includes a genetic-fuzzy system, multi-objective evolutionary algorithms and decision making tools.
