Herein, new general approaches were developed for the synthesis of types of metal oxide, mixed metal oxide and hybrid metal/oxide nanocrystals. Effects of the size and shape of the hybrid metal/oxide nanostructures on catalytic activities of carbon monoxide conversion and photodegradation were verified.
