Sepsis, a leading cause of death, describes a complex clinical syndrome that develops when initial, appropriate host response to an infection becomes amplified and then dysregulated, not only does the disease progress in various phases, but initial inflammation is sometimes followed by immunosupression. Also a multitude of microorganisms are involved in sepsis pathology.
