It is harmful for the economic growth process because it creates a vicious cycle of underdevelopment. Poverty is deeply rooted in Northern Nigeria and linked to inequitable access to infrastructure, employment opportunities, wealth, human capital, and institutional support. These problems limit households earning potential and consequently make them vulnerable. Towards solving the problem income formation and redistribution strategies are suggested.
