 Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) and Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain (1880-1932) were two pioneering figures in the history of women rights who shared similar lives, bitter experiences, fighting mentality, philosophies and wit. They made voices on women’s lack of education, misinterpretation of religion, women’s limited participation in politics and scientific research, marriage without mutual understanding and so on. The affinity between them provides sufficient ground to bring these two writers under a study of comparison despite a clear gap in the periods to, which they belong. This study attempts to analyze their works A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792) and Sultana’s Dream (1905) respectively, in order to identify their roles and contributions in the emergence of women rights and set up peace and prosperity in the world free from gender oppression and discrimination.
