The focus of this qualitative analysis is on concrete nouns with which the two adjectives form adjective-noun collocations. Although high and tall are synonymous, they are not interchangeable in all contexts. Thus the work concentrates on finding out what their collocational restrictions with concrete nouns are and on searching for differences in their uses. The research is based on the British National Corpus.
