Disposal of hazardous wastes in India poses severe threat owing to increasing trend of the quantum generation of such wastes as against the fixed land available for disposal. Installation of TSDF for hazardous wastes has an important role to play in this regards. This book attempts to assess the viability of a proposed TSDF in abandoned stone mine comparing it with two other types of sites, namely abandoned open cast coal mine and fertile/agricultural land. Locational criteria and other associated factors available under Indian regulatory regimes are largely utilized with the findings of a brief review of background research works based on TSDF to develop this presentation.
