Environmental pollution is a significant problem worldwide. In Nigeria, as in many developing countries, zoonotic diseases are a serious health issue. Particularly, the bacterial pathogens considered in this work are causes of gastroenteritis which is endemic in the region. This book describes a research work on the public health implication of the proximity of livestock to humans. The research seeks to address a national problem, as Nigeria is still burdened with diseases such as diarrhoea, incessant cholera epidemics and typhoid which have claimed many lives; hence, the need for more studies on these pathogens which are the causative agent of these diseases. Relevant stakeholders in academia, private sectors and Government agencies will find the work interesting with a view to making policies that will aid pollution control and ensure food safety and to convince government to take proper measures to protect public health.
